A Strong Base for the Finished Surface.
Subbase is the compacted layer that sits beneath driveways, patios, roads, hardstanding and other finished surfaces. It spreads the load, improves stability and helps prevent movement, sinking and cracking.
Type 1 is commonly used where a strong, tightly compacted base is required. Type 3 is more open-graded and is suitable where improved drainage is needed.
We can supply both primary and recycled subbase materials loose, with delivery direct to site.

A Rough Guide
The amount of subbase required depends on the area, depth and material being used.
As a rough guide, 50m² at 150mm depth requires around 7.5m³ of compacted material. For MOT Type 1 limestone or granite, this equates to approximately 15 tonnes.
- Loose loads delivered by 8-wheel grab lorry, either tipped or grabbed off as required.
- We can deliver subbase and remove suitable waste on the same visit.
- Split deliveries available. Subbase and aggregate can be delivered simultaneously.
